Lodging and Dining:
The Madison Valley Ranch is 3 miles from Ennis, MT on the famed ‘channels’ stretch of the Madison River and just over 1 hour from Bozeman, MT. With blue ribbon fly fishing just out your back door and excellent accommodations, service, and dining, the Madison Valley Ranch truly is the premier lodge on The Madison River.
The lodge consists of the Main Lodge flanked by the aptly named Channels Lodge and the Duplex Suites. The Main Lodge rooms are all private quarters connected to the main lodge well appointed with a queen bed and either a double or single bed as well. The Channels lodge rooms include upgraded finishes as well as two queen beds per room. The Channels lodge also offers additional privacy and the closest access to The Madison River. The Duplex suites are in a private cabin and each suite has a back bedroom as well as a front sitting room with a wet bar and table for lounging, organizing flies, or just spreading out your gear. In the back room there are two queen beds.
Anglers will enjoy great dining before and after fishing daily at The Madison Valley Ranch, courtesy of executive chef Matt Pease. He has a love for seasonal sustainable practices, working with small producers, and utilizing fresh products at peak season. Expect creative and delicious dishes with great attention to detail and innovative use of local ingredients. Breakfast and dinner are served daily in the family-style dining room, where food and fishing stories are always plentiful. Dinner consists of a gourmet 4-course meal nightly prepared with local Montana ingredients and paired with fine wine and local brew.
Fishing:
The Madison Valley Ranch is uniquely located to offer anglers unmatched access to the best fly fishing on the Madison River. Our outfitter and Montana fly fishing guides will work with anglers to make a custom fly fishing itinerary, well-suited for personal preferences.
Float trips on the Upper and Lower Madison River are the primary attraction for anglers at the Madison Valley Ranch and for good reason. The Madison River is widely regarded as one of the premier wild trout rivers in the world. Thick hatches, high fish per mile counts, and angling oppurtunities well suited for both beginner and seasoned anglers all make for a blue ribbon experience. Wade fishing trips are also available on the Madison River and are a great fit for anglers on an extended stay trip.
Anglers at the Madison Valley Ranch will also have access to float fly fishing trips on the Jefferson River, Gallatin River, and Yellowstone River with our Montana fly fishing guides. These destinations will require additional travel time each day and meeting guides off-property, but are well worth the effort if exploring new water is preferred.
Wade fishing the rivers on the western half of Yellowstone National Park is another option for our anglers staying at Madison Valley Ranch during the early summer and fall. The Firehole River, Gibbon River, and Madison River in the Park are great day trips and offer some of the best dry fly fishing of the season in early June and mid-September thru October. The fall run on the Madison River in the Park is also one of the best oppurtunities to target trophy brown trout on streamers.
The lodge itself offers private access on property to the ‘Channels’ section of the Madison River. This stretch is regarded as some of the best wade fishing and dry fly fishing in the region. Jack Creek, a small tributary of the Madison and a trophy trout pond are also on site, perfect for a few quick casts before sunset.
